ABOUT THE FACILITATORS: Bevan Klassen is an Art Therapist (DWHEAT) and works with individuals and groups to make videos in therapy. He is a leader in video making in therapy and presented at the 2024 World Art Therapy Conference. In his practices, he has facilitated video making with individuals and groups at CancerCare Manitoba, a temporary youth shelter, school divisions, and child and family services agencies. Bevan came to Art Therapy through the joy and healing he found as an independent filmmaker and his desire to support others on their journey using this unique therapeutic approach. Lara MacPherson is an Art and Expressive Arts Therapy student at the Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Art Therapy (WHEAT) Institute, dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered support. They blend their background in psychology and film production with a passion for experimental video, photography, and media arts to create dynamic and engaging therapeutic experiences. Committed to social justice and inclusivity, Lara utilizes feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed frameworks to ensure a culturally sensitive approach. As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ and disability spectrum communities, they bring a nuanced understanding of intersectionality to their practice. Lara prioritizes collaboration, respects client autonomy, and fosters a therapeutic environment marked by flexibility, empathy, and non-judgment. In addition to their studies, Lara has professional experience in supportive counselling and public education, focusing on gender-based violence. They also enjoy reading, thrifting, roller skating, building LEGO creations, and advocating for mental health awareness. For questions contact [email protected] OR |
